Pictured above are organic products from one of my new favorite places to shop in the Yongsan area of Seoul! The place is called Chorok Maeul and their products are healthy, organic, and high quality. I was overwhelmingly surprised that you can pretty much check off everything on your nutritious grocery list with a quick trip to this small, convenient side of the road store.
Upon entering Chorok Maeul, the owner is always welcoming and willing to find the answers to questions you may have. What he cannot speak in English, he makes up for by using his phone to help translate. I learned from my last trip that he even has a delivery service if you end up buying more than you can carry and do not have a car!
I have enjoyed looking through Chorok Maeul's selection of fruits and veggies. I have found plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, as well as a small selection of frozen fruits to make our breakfast smoothies. Their dairy selection is great, too, but what I really got excited about in Chorak Maeul is their selection of organic meats! Yay! I found a place to buy organic meats, one of the most important foods to buy organic! Now, I have not experimented too much with their meat selection, but our family has tried the frozen chicken breasts and they are great!
There are plenty of other items I am super excited about, too. Like the fruit and chocolate ice cream bars for example!!! With the weather still being somewhat warm, my kids crave an ice cream, like every day! But, of course this mama who is trying to limit our family's sugar intake has cut out the habit of stopping at the corner 7/11 for daily sugar consumptions. So, stocking up on these "healthier" ice cream bars, which are organic and includes a small amount of sugar, just might quench our children's sweet tooth!
Other products that are fun to browse include Chorok Maeul's selection of toiletries, like toothpaste and toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, like laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid, and fun snacks, like nuts and popcorn. Of course, the debate, "To buy organic or not to be organic", is still out there, but if your personal decision is to buy organic and you live in the Seoul area, check out Chorok Maeul! You will be happy you stopped in for a visit!
